Practice hazard awareness, bad-weather driving and sharing the road — the safe-driving judgment the Class E exam checks.
Safe-driving questions ask what a careful driver would do in real conditions: rain, fog, night, a skid, or sharing a lane with a cyclist. There is usually one clearly safest answer. This set builds the habit of picking it every time.
Sample question: The recommended minimum following distance behind the car ahead under good conditions is: A) One car length B) Two seconds C) Half a second D) Ten feet. Correct answer: B — Use the two-second rule, and increase it to four seconds or more in rain, fog or heavy traffic.
Sample question: If your car begins to skid, you should: A) Brake hard B) Steer in the direction you want the front of the car to go and ease off the gas C) Close your eyes and hold on D) Accelerate to regain control. Correct answer: B — Steer gently where you want to go and ease off the gas; slamming the brakes usually makes a skid worse.
Sample question: When driving in fog, you should use: A) High-beam headlights B) Low-beam headlights C) No lights, to avoid glare D) Hazard lights while moving. Correct answer: B — Low beams. High beams reflect off the fog and reduce your visibility.
