Practice Questions: Traffic Laws

This topic covers the traffic laws you use on every trip: how fast you may drive, which lane to use, what pavement markings mean, and how to respond to signals. These are the questions that separate a first-try pass from a retake, so drill them until the rules are automatic.

Sample question: Unless otherwise posted, the speed limit in a Florida residential area is: A) 15 mph B) 20 mph C) 30 mph D) 45 mph. Correct answer: C — 30 mph. Business districts default to 30 mph too; school zones are typically 20 mph when flashing.

Sample question: A solid yellow line on your side of the center of the road means: A) Passing is allowed B) Passing is not allowed C) The road is one-way D) You may park there. Correct answer: B — Passing is not allowed on your side. Two solid yellow lines mean neither direction may pass.

Sample question: A steady yellow traffic light means: A) Speed up to clear the intersection B) The light is about to turn red, stop if you can do so safely C) Stop and wait for green D) The signal is broken. Correct answer: B — The light is about to turn red; stop safely if you can.
